It seems like these fun outdoor recreations is becoming activities of the past, more frequently replaced with sedentary ones like viewing a show, playing on the Wii or other computer based entertainment.
Though the world has evolved since my childhood, outdoor play is still important. That helps children develop physical skills, live healthier lives, teaches those to work jointly with friends or family, to appreciate and manage their natural environment, and enlarges their imagination. While parents we can help our kids learn to enjoy being outside and join them in their adventures. Here are a few activity ideas and games to play collectively while experiencing the great outdoors.
Play animal charades. Let kids can decide on their favorite animal and act it out for others players to speculate.
Bubble time. Chasing pockets, as they flit over the grass, can fill up a yard with titters and provide fun exercise. Making homemade blowers provides a touch of imagination to your day. Find your chosen pattern for a motorized inflator and homemade bubble formula by doing a search online for using the keywords homemade bubbles and blowers.
Take a character walk in your own backyard, a park, or a near by open area. Observe for animals; as you walk through areas they could live. Discover the several types of plants growing over the path. During the hike parents may choose to bring trash hand bags, tools, and gloves to help clear litter as you go along, teaching children the value of taking care of their environment.
Race paper planes. Let kids fold and decorate paper airplanes. Travel them to see in whose plane goes the furthest. Using construction paper to fold adds color and makes planes a little heavier helping them take flight better.
Play freeze label. This really is a twist to the standard game of draw. In freeze tag one or two participants are “it” and every time they marking someone that person remains frozen in place until they are really tagged by another unfrozen player. Once a player is tagged (frozen) three times by the person who is “it” now they become the tagger and the preceding person joins the recovery of the group.
Provide each child an area in the garden. Kids can help plant their own seeds or plant life helping care for plants as they grow and collection when their crop is ready. Although this is not a game it could be fun activity, packed with expectation while kids watch things grow.
Outdoor activities provide a breath of fresh air and open a world of possibilities for anyone. So step outside and into new adventures.
